The choir Cantores Sancti Marci is a distinguished Croatian choir that exists over 25 years, has held over 2500 concerts, and is formed by around 30 singers

The conductor is mo. Jurica Petar Petrac, who started leading the choir in 2011. Our repertoire consists of classical music pieces, liturgical music, a cappella and choral music. Our member and president is one of the best organ players in Croatia, Professor Pavao Masic, who is, aside from being the titular organist in St. Mark’s, currently teaching organ and harpsichord at the Music Academy Zagreb.

The choir is hired by the City of Zagreb, and this arrangement implies the collaboration with the Zagreb Tourist Office, and various performances on the political and tourist events throughout the year. However, its main purpose is singing in the St. Mark’s church in Zagreb.

Every Sunday, we provide the accompaniment for the Sunday mass, performing musical pieces such as Missa brevis in C, Missa Brevis in D, and Missa Brevis in d by W.A. Mozart, Missa in G by F. Schubert, and Missa Choralis by F. Liszt, among many others.

At least once a year, we carry out a specific musical project. So far, we have preformed Te Deum by M.A. Charpentier, Magnificat by J.S. Bach, Requiem by W.A. Mozart, Magnificat by J. Rutter, Requiem by G. Faure, Vespers by S. Rachmaninoff.

Apart from the world renowned composers, we promote Croatian artists. One of them is Antun Tomislav Šaban, whose composition Golgota we premiered in 2012, and recorded it in 2013.

The Choir takes part in many different festivals and competitions. In the last 2 years, we participated in the revue festival, The International Choral Festival Nis, in Serbia in 2012, and Bratislava Cantat II in Slovakia in 2013, where we won the double first prize. One of our favourite competitions was Zagrebacki Glazbeni Podij in 2014 in Zagreb, where we won the golden plate and the absolute first prize in the competition.

In 2015, we participated in the Ohrid Choir Festival in Macedonia and won the golden prize in our category.
